2023 (January-December) National Automobile Production and Sales Data

 

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), in 2023, China's automobile production and sales volumes reached 30.161 million and 30.094 million units, respectively, marking a year-on-year increase of 11.6% and 12%. New energy vehicle production and sales were 9.587 million and 9.495 million units, respectively, up 35.8% and 37.9% year-on-year, accounting for 31.6% of total vehicle sales.

  • Export Situation: Total vehicle exports were 4.91 million units, up 57.9% year-on-year, with new energy vehicle exports reaching 1.203 million units, an increase of 77.6%.
  • Battery Exports: Reached 127.4 gigawatt-hours, up 87.1% year-on-year.
  • 2024 Forecast: Total automobile sales are expected to exceed 31 million units, a year-on-year increase of over 3%. New energy vehicle sales are projected to be 11.5 million units, with exports at 5.5 million units.

Geographic Analysis:

  • Guangdong, Chongqing, and Shanghai ranked the top three in production with 5.1919 million, 2.3179 million, and 2.1561 million units, respectively.
